Hello hoomans, it's me—Miel, your resident four-pawed storyteller here at Lazy Dog Boracay.
I've been around long enough to see this little corner of Bulabog Beach change, but lately, my hooman showed me an old movie of our place. It's full of pictures from 2012 to early 2018, back when the island still had a slower heartbeat. Watching it made my tail wag and my ears perk up.
Back then, mornings smelled like Vietnamese coffee and garlic fried rice long before breakfast time. My mom, Chili, would lounge near the café while I ran around greeting guests—sometimes a bit too enthusiastically (sorry to those who spilled coffee because of me). My big brother Whiskey, the golden retriever, was still around then—calm, gentle, and always ready to charm guests at Whiskey's Cafe into giving him ear scratches. Afternoons were for napping in the shade of the big evergreen tree, listening to kitesurfers laugh as the wind carried their voices from Bulabog Beach.
In those years, Lazy Dog Bed and Breakfast felt like a quiet pause in the middle of the island. No big crowds, no rush—just friends gathering around tables, sharing stories with sandy feet, and maybe sneaking me a bite of adobo when the hoomans weren't looking.
The video's soundtrack is a song called "Boracay" by Bruno from Ibiza. He made it after visiting the island in the early 2000s and recorded the voices of Boracay residents. When you hear it, you'll notice it's not just music—it's a piece of the island's soul.
If you've stayed with us during those years, you might recognize the faces, the rooms, or even that old hammock where some of you read your books. And if you haven't yet… maybe you'll still feel the same warmth we try to keep alive today.
Some things have changed, but here at Lazy Dog Boracay, we still serve your breakfast at Whiskey's Café with a smile (and maybe a little drool if I'm nearby), we still gather under the same evergreen tree, and we still believe that the best parts of Boracay are the ones that feel personal.
So grab a coffee, watch the video, and—like the song says—babalik ka rin. Because some places, and some dogs, are worth coming back to.
